For many years the hospital is suffering from a shortage of staff, especially highly qualified staff like doctors and nursing officers. This is due to competition from the governement hospitals and medical facilities in big towns offering higher salaries in the private sector, better social facilities and a better chance for further education. Many of Nursing Officers left Nyangao Hospital due these reasons. Two Medical Officers, the Physiotherapist and the Administrator are expatriates.
